ICQ Update – Pidgin Login Problem
Yesterday the ICQ-Protokoll changed again… anyone who can’t update to Pidgin 2.4.3 can’t login.
For Gentoo there’s a new ebuild already, but Ubuntu is somewhat behind. So you will have to compile it yourself.
UPDATE: there’s a deb at https://launchpad.net/~pidgin-developers/+archive
Get the source at SourceForge.
Unpack and change into the directory. Then run ./configure. Here’s my complete command, I needed some parameters: (not all may be needed in your case!)
./configure –disable-screensaver –disable-startup-notification –disable-gtkspell –disable-gstreamer –disable-meanwhile –disable-avahi –disable-dbus –disable-perl –disable-nss –disable-gnutls –disable-tcl
Before you compile it you should uninstall the old version (pidgin and libpurple) or there may be some version problems.
Then run make and sudo make install. After that you can again enjoy ICQ and tell your buddies to get a Jabber account
